All residents of Columbus, regardless of race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, or religion, deserve to feel safe in their neighborhoods and be treated with dignity and respect by those sworn to protect and serve our communities. Residents of Columbus deserve safety from contaminated air, water, and soil; easy access to mental health services, and elected officials who are responsive to the evolving needs of the Columbus community.
I will fight for safer communities:
- Using proven community-centric policing models that provide the best training for officers working in diverse urban environments1234
- Insist on a special prosecutor (independent investigation) in the event of a police shooting
- Insist that police officers be drug tested immediately after an officer involved shooting5
- Reducing crime and recidivism rates by increasing funding for successful jobs programs serving returning citizens.6
- Working with stakeholders to create a plan to rid Columbus neighborhoods of lead tainted pipes by 2030 and ensure that no fracking or wastewater injection wells operate in Columbus7
